So this is 2013....

2013,
I already like you more than 2012.
(sigh of relief)

Anyways-
Spring semester starts tomorrow at school.. whoopie. Can't wait. -_-

I'm hoping to still have time to work on some photo things and some DIY things I have been clogging up my Pinterest with but not actually falling through with... cause I'm the ONLY one who does that, right.... ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful week & are working hard towards whatever goals you have set for yourself in the new year!!!!**

The over-rated New Years post!

HOLA!!
So its been what, 5 months since I've been on here? Yikes. Sorry. Time has gotten away!
With having my back surgery, school starting up again, trying to pick up my photography, I've just
kinda been scattered brained!

This year I'm HOPING to try to be better at updating...and get more followers and blogger friends, of course.

So anyways, here we are. 2013

What a year 2012 has been.
It's been awful, actually.
Well for me anyways. Not to be a debbie downer, but, just bad bad things all around.
Of course yes there were some positives. But I feel like for every positive there was a negative.
Bleh.

But anyhow! What can you do? Only be thankful for the good things that happened, and be prepared and ready for 2013!!
With that being said, what do I plan to do for 2013 to make it the best year?
-Eat right and work out!!! (like everyone)
-Be on time for work everyday. (wishful thinking... maybe that monthly car payment will remind me......)
-Get more into my "photography business. (No I didnt go to school for photography. It's a passion of mine and along with classes I've self taught myself, along with learning from others. I've recently got better programs and better equipment, so bring it on!!!!)
-MONEY MANAGEMENT. (Enough said.)
-Stand up for myself more. (Call me the human doormat. But that will stop this year!!)

Overall, just as everyone, I have high expectations for the year. I wish the best for everyone as they work towards their goals :)

i'm back! :D

hello all :)
i have survived the surgery, despite what you may believe by not hearing back from me from quite some time..

just in the recovery stage, couple more weeks off work.
i've watched everything on netflix, thats for sure.
but other than that, not much of anything!

i re-did my room before surgery, so i'll be posting pictures of that soon
along with some projects i've done!

love & blessings to all!!!

the countdown!

well my friends, its almost that time.
the big day (surgery) is this tuesday!!!
so before i'm instructed to take it easy for the next 3 months.. im trying to kick into craft gear.

featuring this little gem i did last night, which i found in my local newspaper!!!
(i know, right??)
i call it, the spoon mirror. im sure it has a proper name but, i'm not exactly sure of it at the moment :)

iTEMS YOU NEED :

dollar store pizza pan-- 1$ from the dollar tree

craft paint-- walmart for like $.57.. the colors i used were White, Key West, & Laguna

mirror-- 1$ at the dollar tree. i used a 5 inch one.

plastic spoons-- dollar tree. as you can see i bought 5 packs of 48, because thats how much the article called for, i didnt use near that much and have a ton left over.

 DiRECTiONS:

break off all of your spoon ends. yes this is difficult. i found myself getting cut and pinched and even ended up with plastic in my eyeball. no joke. so, be carefull! sometimes it was easier to cut them with scissors, other times not. its okay if the ends aren't even, just make sure you have some that are to use at the end.

glue your mirror to the center of the pizza tray.

i used a hot glue gun, but you can use any suitable craft glue or gorilla glue.

glue first layer of spoons around the edge. if i make this again, i will maybe glue the spoons more on the actual mouth than the handle than i did here, bu its really not a big deal.

wa-la! just close enough that they barely touch each other .

this is where you will start with your lightest color. i used a mixture of White & the Key West.

add 2 coats. allowing the first one to try completely before starting your second.

then start your second layer of spoons, just below the first layer. at first i tried perfectly to place them in between the top layer but just start gluing them side by side and they will fall into place with the top layer.

:)

add a little more of the medium color to your mixture.

next layer, same as the others. i ended up with 4 layers, so for the 3rd layer i used strictly the middle color, and for the 4th layer i used strictly the last darkest color.

for the final layer, this is when i said to use the ones with the most even break or the littlest left of the handle on the spoon, although it really doesn't matter. i left the rubber stoppers on the back of my mirror so i could put the spoons under it just a little bit.

ta da!!!!!

all finished... and in love :) still need to add another coat to the darkest layer though...
